West Palm Beach, Florida – The number of downtown parks in West Palm Beach will increase dramatically this September. On Friday, September 18, 2009, during the fourth annual National Park(ing) day, West Palm Beach will have approximately 5 mini-parks in parking spaces in Northwood Village.
National Park(ing) Day is an annual event celebrating parks by creating temporary parks in public parking spaces. The goals, are to celebrate parks and promote the need for more parks in America’s cities. (www.parkingday.org)
In West Palm Beach the public can enjoy mini-parks in curbside parking spaces in Northwood Village, a redeveloping area in the north end, approximately one mile north of Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. Sponsors of parks include Northwood Village merchants, Northwood GreenLife, the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the City of West Palm Beach.
